New loyalty program ‘Plenti’ will be introduced by the American Express soon. The program will allow American shoppers to earn purchase based rewards point. For the first time, shoppers will get points on payments at the petrol pump and phone bill. The Plenti is open to people who are not American Express Members. The program doesn’t have tie up with single company or credit card Corporation unlike other loyalty programs such as frequent flyer plans.
The points collected after transactions at Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Rite Aid, Macy's and another place can be utilized for discounts at any other participating vendor. This means your rewards won’t be company specific, the points earned at petrol pump can be used to get discount at grocery shop or electricity bill. Chief Executive Officer, Abeer Bhatia at US Loyalty division of American Express informed that first time U.S. consumers can take rewards points from one sector to another. The impact of the loyalty program was limited on the consumers before as the tie-ups were limited between one or two retailers of the same sector.
Now points can move the industry customers will keep coming back due to discounts and rewards. The rewards can be earned by any person who signs up using Plenti.com or Plenti app for smartphones. After the registrations every customer will be entitled to Plenti points against each cash, debit or credit card transaction processed. The number of points will be different from retailer to retailer. 1000 plenti points will give $10 discount on the transaction of any merchant.
